I ordered my Origami Owl locket, charms and chain with the hopes of it being at my home before the anniversary of my grandmother's passing. I figured, a two weeks would be plenty of time. Well, I placed my order online and about three or four days later I got an email stating that my order was packed, shipping out soon and they would contact me with a tracking number once it was mailed. No problem..

A week later, I still did not hear from the about a tracking number so I decided to call to make sure the order was okay. First time I called I waited on hold for 25 minutes, no one picked up and I had to go, I was at work and could not spend anymore time waiting. Later that day, on my commute home, I called again and was on hold for AN HOUR! Someone FINALLY picked up the phone, only to hang up again. At this point I did not have the time to hold again and figured I would call the next day when they first opened.

Next day I called as soon as they opened, again I waited 20 minutes on hold and decided to "Leave a message". When I pressed the button to leave a message, the call disconnected.. You have got to be kidding, right??

Again, like the day before I called to wait on hold AGAIN for an hour.. Someone finally picked up and the first words out of my mouth were "If you hang up I will call my credit card company and cancel my order.." Concerned, the rep asked me what was going on. I explained the situation and she said she would look into it.. She came back on the phone to tell me that when she tracked the package, it did not return any information, which means it was lost. I explained to her the reason behind purchasing it and the trouble I went through the past three days. She promised that she would get one out to me via three day air (meaning it would arrive the day after the anniversary). At this point I just wanted what I paid for, I also explained that I would be putting in a dispute with my credit card company and once the locket arrived, I would lift the dispute.

It finally arrived the day after I ordered it for, via the original shipping method. So all of their previous emails were lies, it was never packed when they said it was and it never shipped. I don't know what happened, but I finally had my locket after of 2 weeks.

It is now 5 months later, and I wear this locket every day. Never has it gotten wet or been placed in a cleaning solution. It goes on my neck in the morning and in my jewelry box at the end of the day, sadly, it has turned black. I have tried cleaning it with no avail. I expect when I pay 80 dollars for something, that it not turn black. I'm not even going to bother trying to get my money back or a new necklace from them. I'll just get one from a local store or better yet, go to Etsy and look up living lockets. I had a feeling I should've ordered from Etsy in the first place but figured this was a reputable company.

Lesson learned, do my homework next time. I love how so many people call these experiences "***". They must be independant sellers or work directly for Origami Owl.

Stay far away from this place. The necklaces are ***, the customer service is *** and overall, a pretty *** experience with Origami Owl. When people ask about my necklace, I tell them I got it from Etsy so they will not go through the same *** I went through. I will never purchase from them again.

Monetary Loss: $85.

The company sells "costume jewelry". This is the same type of stuff you buy at places like Claire's, the cheap items in the mall.

You are expecting Tiffany quality from costume jewelry you are sadly mistaken. Even my Tiffany charm bracelet tarnishes, as does my Pandora. I wear the heck out of things and they tarnish... that's life.

If you paid $80 for just the locket -- you were oversold by some unscrupulous designer. I have 4 lockets from Origami Owl - none have tarnished (yet), and the most expensive one I have is the $40 heart with crystals. Personally I love them - they're inexpensive, fun to change out, and if they break - oh well. It's not like you are losing the Hope Diamond.

Costume jewelry is just that -- meant to be enjoyed for a while, then either replaced or tossed.

Seems to me that people want to bash a company for giving them what they pay for -- I don't see many complaints about Guess jewelry, or any of the other cheaper brands Macy's sells. The consumers know they are getting PLATED jewelry - not sterling silver, 14K gold, or platinum.

Grow up people -- get your facts straight on what the product is and STOP expecting a cheap piece of jewelry to last you a lifetime. If you want that - invest in the real deal!

I wasn't complaining about the locket tarnishing you dolt, I was complaining about the CHAIN turning black. I had two chains from this company turn black in a matter of a few months. I've never had a problem with the actual locket or charms. If I was the only one complaining, it would make total sense but I'm not.

I don't believe I ever complained about the locket or charms, are you *** or just a little slow? :?

It was also quite impossible to get a hold of anyone in customer service. No one should have to wait on hold 20 minutes to be disconneted, then another 45 minutes only to be hung up on then finally after a 60 minute wait time get through to a human. Horrible customer service.

BTW, I don't buy Guess (really??) or cheap jewelry.. That seems more your taste, Mishka. You must be one of their *** sellers who's desperate for a sale. Sorry the trend is dying down sweetie, time to get off your fat *** and get a real job you patethic cow. :grin

Really? I wore my chain approximately 5-6 times.

That averages about $14.50 per each use. That's expensive costume jewelry! I work hard for my money. I'm a single mother with not a lot of money to spare.

You may have extra money to throw away, but I do not. I rarely get to treat myself, so I expected much more than disposable costume jewelry.

You are arrogant to assume that everyone is afforded the same luxuries in life as you. Furthermore, if this company's product is disposable, then it should be advertised that way and not as a quality product!

all of my charms turned black as well, the only thing that did not was my necklace and I was told it was my skin.

You're upset because a five dollar charm tarnished? Really?

Buy another one...they are cheap charms made in China, not made with 14K gold, sterling silver.

Five dollars and you complain... I would hate to see what you complain about when you get your Starbucks with low foam instead of high foam.

It's the cost of a Latte. There are better things in life to complain about.

Yes....they got me as well. Sent me a kit full of discontinued items as my jewelry bar start up kit to show.

I gave the kit away and did not let one person order from me. I then read the real deal of who the lady is and actually felt bad I didn't just trash the kit. So...lesson learned. But I agree....o2 is not what they portray.

A class action law suit is by far foreseeable in the future. I'm in!!!!

Even precious metals tarnish, unfortunately. I also have a living locket from Origami Owl in the large brushed gold size.

It has not tarnished but I shattered the glass on one side today. :( The chain I bought for it did tarnish and also wear away to a copper filling in places.

I stuck it in some tarnish removing liquid and it looks a lot better. It only cost me $11.00, so I got what I paid for.

I wonder how much they pay their sellers to go on boards like this and have them click the *** button.

I, as well as numerous friends have had the same problems.

This company is ***. They sell inferior product and have horrible customer service.

Lockets are less than $30, you're not paying top dollar. If you paid $80 for the actual locket, I agree it shouldn't rust or tarnish in 5 months.

You need to polish and clean all jewelry periodically if you want them maintained.

Etsy is good but they are independent sellers too. Can't believe customer service is so bad but that seems to be a trend in the states.

Sorry to hear what happened to you. Unfortunately, your not alone in your experience with this company.

The sheer number of complaints is shocking. They got so many on the BBB site it had to be shut down.

More than 170! That's crazy.
